OptiGrate Corp Appoints Dr. Alexei Glebov Chief Executive Officer
ORLANDO, Fla. (January 6, 2009)— OptiGrate Corp, a local company that manufactures a wide range of volume diffractive gratings for commercial and defense applications, has appointed Dr. Alexei Glebov as CEO and President.
“Alexei brings to OptiGrate a deep understanding of the optoelectronics industry and extensive experience managing advanced technology development and new product introduction,” said Dr. Leon Glebov, Chair of OptiGrate’s Board of Directors and founder of the company. “He joins OptiGrate at a time when we enjoy a strong growth and are transitioning our company to volume manufacturing standards. Alexei’s experience with large photonics industry and “Silicon Valley spirit” will drive OptiGrate to even greater success.”
Dr. Alexei Glebov started his industrial career at Bell Laboratories’ Lucent Technologies. In late 1990’s he moved to the Silicon Valley where he worked in various engineering and management positions with key optoelectronics manufacturers such as Fujitsu and Finisar Corporation. His experience spans from development of photonics and microelectronics integrated circuits to production of numerous cutting edge high-speed optoelectronic devices.
Dr. Glebov earned his M.S. in Physics from the University of St. Petersburg, Russia, and Ph.D. in Applied Physics from the Max Planck Institute in Goettingen, Germany. He filed more than 30 patents in the field of photonics and has more than 50 publications in technical journals. Alexei is widely recognized as a regular invited lecturer, conference chair, member of technical program and organizing committees at leading industry events.
“I am fully convinced that OptiGrate has a great future and we will lead the market of volume holographic elements,” says Dr. Alexei Glebov. “We have a unique position in the industry with full vertical integration of OptiGrate’s manufacturing and very tight connection to R&D potential of the Center for Research and Education on Optics and Lasers (CREOL) at the University of Central Florida. We have already licensed and took to market technologies developed at CREOL.”
OptiGrate is a client of the UCF Incubation Program at the Technology Incubator located in the Central Florida Research Park.
